Gold

Ok, it's getting through. It's going to be bigger than landfills. It hits endangered species, rain forest, toxicity/cancer, and it's driven by the most inane, dispensible purchasing decision we make.

4o years from now educated people will not buy gold. It will prove easier to change than vegetarianism or organic foods because not buying gold saves you money. Buying gold paves roads into rainforests and kills gorillas.

Duh.

Hollywood is getting it. Not that Hollywood is the best champion to look towards (see "the day after"... or actually, don't).

This is not like a boycott of coffee which would hurt poor farmers. The gold miners are poor, but they are being relocated to unnatural places where they buy/eat bushmeat.

I'm going to write more about this.
